THE LOW DOWN ON SCARRING

Not everyone needs to know your secrets. Scarring can come in any size and shape and can appear almost anywhere on the face and body.

CAUSES?

Scars can appear all over our face and body as a result of acne, general cuts and bumps, as well as surgery
TYPES OF

SCARRING

ACNE SCARRING

  • Ice Pick scars – This is the most common type of acne scarring, which resembles deep pits or potholes in the skin.
  • Boxcar scars – Similar to your childhood chickenpox scars, these are usually found on the temple/cheek areas
  • Rolling scars – Waves are best kept in the ocean, not on your skin. These scars give your skin a wave-like appearance.

OTHER SCARS

  • Hypertrophic scars – These are scars that heal in a lump or bump. They can be thicker or raised scars, which are called keloid scars.
  • Stretch Marks – Red or silver tiger-like stripes on the body, usually appearing in areas of sudden growth as a result of fluctuations in weight and pregnancy. So remember to prevent stretch marks, don’t go through puberty, gain weight or get pregnant! #Stay12Forever
  • Surgical scarring – scars from surgery or life’s little mishaps.
